In a standard poker game, the first round of betting is held between each card. If the previous bet was matched, the raiser can increase the bet by the full amount of the pot.
In some games, the best hand is awarded the pot. In other variations, the pot may be divided between the highest and lowest hands.
The most common structures of poker are no-limit, pot-limit, and fixed-limit. In these variations, players must make a forced bet. The amount of the bet can range from a few dollars to the entire pot.
